Description
Measles is a highly infectious viral illness, spread by air borne transmission and so, easily passed on from person to person. In some cases, it can result in serious life-long complications, or even death. While it is most common in young people, anyone who has not been vaccinated or has not had measles or the measles vaccine before is at risk of infection.
Fewer children are now receiving the MMR vaccine in the UK and it has lost its Measles-free status. It is now thought that one in seven chilren under 5 are not up to date with routine immunizations.
